Horatio Gates Jones Commemorative Tablet
Horatio Gates Jones Commemorative Tablet in the Narthex of Lower Merion Baptist Church of Bryn Mawr PA.

"THE REV. HORATIO GATES JONES, D.D.,
The Founder and first Pastor of this Church departed this life December 12th 1853 in the 77th year of his age, the 53rd of his Ministry and the 16th of his Pastorate. His remains lie interred in the Family Burial Ground at Roxborough Philadelphia County. To talents of a high order were added the Graces of Christian courtesy and manly dignity. Of Revolutionary ancestry, he was a Firm Patriot, a pure Republican, the promotor of useful learning and a true Christian. There were few men who surpassed him in his affection as a Parent his warmth as friend, his zealous labours as a Minister of Christ or his devotion as a Pastor. As a token of their respect for the memory of their late revered Friend and Pastor this Tablet is erected by the Church and Congregation. They that turn many to righteousness shall shine as the stars for ever and ever."
Dan. XII, 3
